What is Pitanga?
Pitanga (Eugenia uniflora), also known as ñangapirí in Guaraní, is the fruit of a tree native to Brazil’s tropical regions. It is also found in northern Argentina—particularly in the province of Misiones—as well as in Uruguay and Paraguay.

It stands out for its mild, fruity, and refreshing flavor, with a subtle acidic note. Beyond its delicious taste, pitanga is known for its medicinal properties: it has a high concentration of antioxidants, supports digestion, strengthens the immune system, and provides essential vitamins such as vitamin C and vitamin A.
Our efforts to include Pitanga in the Argentine Food Code (C.A.A.)
Initially, only the fruit of the pitanga was approved in the Argentine Food Code (C.A.A.).

In 2022, YEVIA initiated the process before CONAL (National Food Commission) to authorize the use of pitanga leaves for infusions. After their evaluation, pitanga leaves were officially included in the list of approved infusion herbs through Joint Resolution 5/2024, published in the Official Gazette on August 14, 2024.

This achievement not only allowed us to create the first-ever yerba mate with pitanga, but also opened new opportunities to sustainably valorize this native resource.

Yerba mate with Pitanga
The first and only one on the market
Our Yerba Mate with Pitanga stands out for its smooth, fruity, refreshing, and aromatic flavor—thanks to the incorporation of pitanga leaves, valued not only for their distinctive taste but also for their high nutritional value and medicinal properties.
Pitanga leaves are naturally rich in vitamin C, have antioxidant properties, help lower blood pressure, support digestion, and are excellent for relieving headaches.

Launch of Yerba with Pitanga!
Our April 2025 launch marked a turning point: it was the first time a yerba mate blend with pitanga leaves—officially authorized as an ingredient in the Argentine Food Code—was introduced to the market.
